121k Shopify stores in audit?


Shopify CEO Tobias Lutke is ready to put up a fight over what he describes as an "overreach" by the Canada Revenue Agency (i.e. Canadian IRS). In a tweet, Lutke said the Ottawa-based platform was recently asked to hand over tax records of more than 121,000 Canadian stores from the last six years. There are as yet no details on why the CRA is inquiring into Shopify's records, but it sounds similar to their investigation of eBay over tax evasion concerns for high-earning sellers on the website.
