Amazon crowdsources friends’ product recommendations

Surveys regularly show that product recommendations from friends and family are among the most trusted sources. And now, Amazon is testing a new “Consult-a-Friend” feature that allows shoppers to request, view, and manage their friends’ feedback on products within the Amazon Shopping app. “Sometimes, it helps to get a little advice from your friends or family,” said the Director of Amazon Shopping “But when it comes to online shopping, it can be hard to keep track of feedback from multiple people across messaging apps.”

How does it work?

1) Select a product, tap “Share”, then toggle on the “Ask for your friends’ votes” button

2) Select a preferred messaging app and recipient

3) the app sends a message directing friends to a link then

4) friends can view product details, select a quick emoji reaction (😍,☹️,or 🤔) and / or add notes.
